"I am very grateful that English for Academic Communication gave me much confidence to practice my English presentation skills. As my ICTE teacher said, 'the best way to overcome the fear is just to do it', all the courageous practice makes us perfect!" - Bo Qiu, ICTE Alumni

Leadership Training for Public Officials, Vietnam
ICTE has a decade-long record of delivering leadership training for government officials and administrators, sponsored by the Department of Training and Professional Development (formerly Program 165), under the Communist Party of Vietnam.
In 2019, ICTE hosted a two-week leadership and management program and an 11-week public administration program for current and future provincial government leaders from all across Vietnam from diverse professional backgrounds.
The programs were designed to enhance leadership, management and public policy competencies at a provincial sector level. As part of their time in Australia, the delegation attended a series of interactive training sessions delivered by academics and practitioners from UQ, across a range of topics including public diplomacy, sustainable development, executive leadership for inclusive development, stakeholder engagement and digital transformation.
Leaders also had the opportunity to visit Australian public agencies and engage in open dialogues with their counterparts on shared issues and challenges, discover best practices, and develop a framework for their own professional practice at a local level.

Strengthening UQ partnerships
ICTE and UNESP
ICTE engaged with UQ premier partner São Paulo State University (UNESP) to deliver the inaugural Content & Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) program.
The program was designed to enhance the application of CLIL methodology to tertiary contexts and support the development of appropriate techniques and strategies on how to teach academic content using English as a Medium of Instruction. The program supports UNESP’s internationalisation efforts, and evaluations show significant improvements in participants' self-reported competency.

These programs were coordinated with input from UQ’s academic community to build the participants’ skills in leadership, communication and project management, and for participants to become empowered leaders in their professional sector and in their own communities.
